Daniel J Yeomans RCA. Born, Bedford 1986. At the age of 20, a fascination for travel impelled a move to the Swiss Alps to live and work as a ski instructor. Daniel remained here for five years, before going to Florence to begin training as an artist. He studied at the Charles H. Cecil Studios in Florence, where he studied portraiture.
Four years after starting his career in Wales, Daniel returned to Switzerland to live with his now wife Alicia, where he has his studio close to Geneva.
A contemporary artist at heart, with connections to great painters from the past. Daniel took time to master the craft of painting which was the starting point for everything. Alongside oil painting, Daniel uses sculpture and mixed media to compose installations exploring varying ideas in which his creative tendencies merge.
Taking life as the initial starting point. Works sometimes tell a story or provoke debate on social issues. Other times, they can be inspired simply by the light falling through a nearby window. Either way, ideas stem from an emotional response.
Daniel has a particular interest in altering the viewer’s interaction with a work to affect their response to it. Often presenting us with new ways to view a work which in turn means his exhibitions have an ever-increasing immersive feel to them.
In 2020 the National Library of Wales added his self-portrait to its collection and in 2021 Daniel was made a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy. In 2019 His Portrait painting ‘Dystonia and I’ was also shortlisted for the Jackson’s Art Award.
