Still life commissions

It’s been a great summer for still life painting.  I’ve had the pleasure of discovering some lush, colourful gardens with an abundance of inspiration to paint my still life commissions. This year has also seen seen an increase in the number of demands for personal, still life commissions.  So with that in mind I thought I would continue with the theme from the last blog.  This week I take you through the simple process of commissioning your own still life painting.

Commissioning a landscape painting

Commissioning a landscape painting is unknown territory for many people. So I’m writing this blog to take you ‘behind the scenes’ and show the whole process of commissioning your own landscape painting from start to finish. What the process involves and which choices you might make as the commissioner.  This particular painting is being painted in the Swiss Alps.

As announced by La Côte journal this week in the article ‘making Constable Blush’, I open my first solo exhibition in Nyon, Switzerland. Bringing together all my landscapes, dating back from as early on as 2013, up to the present day.

Painting the Swiss Alps

The Swiss alps have enticed many landscape artists before me inspiring works, which in some cases have spanned throughout a painters whole life time.  Switzerland and it’s stunning landscapes has produced many good landscape painters including Segantini and Ferdinand Holder.  So now it’s my turn to follow in their snowy footsteps while I prepare for my next solo exhibition in Nyon next to Lake Geneva.

Winter painting in Wales

Winter Painting is right up my street, the outdoors and snow sports combined, so if there is an opportunity to go for a hike or a ski with my painting equipment in my backpack I’m there. These particular winter painting days came as a bonus though, with no travel needed it snowed right here on my doorstep!

Handmade portrait of an Artist | A short Film

Gwyn Cole is a local film maker, originally from Zimbabwe. He studied in the US and now lives in Newtown, just down the road from my studio.  He is incredibly passionate about what he does and I am very happy to present this short film which he was inspired to make about me following my dream to become an artist.
